Welcome to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office District 5 Web Page. My name is Mark Halperin, and it is my honor and privilege to be the Commanding Officer. I was born at Good Samaritan Hospital and attended school in Palm Beach County, graduating from Forest Hill High School. After High School, I attended Florida Atlantic University, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. My wife and I have been married for 32 years and raised three children while residing in Royal Palm Beach.
During my 34-year tenure with PBSO, my assignments have included Patrol Deputy, Sergeant, Canine Unit Commander, and Watch Commander. For the last 10 years, I have served as a Command Duty Officer (Patrol Captain).
District 5 encompasses the unincorporated area of the Glades, including Canal Point. The central portion of District 5 starts at 20 mile Bend from the East and stretches to Hendry County. District 5 goes south to the Broward County line and north to the Martin County Line. This makes District 5 the largest land mass of all the Districts within the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
District 5 has 60 certified Law Enforcement Officers and 6 Professional Staff. We proudly have a dedicated Detective Bureau, Agriculture Unit, Community Policing Unit, Therapy Canine Unit, Criminal Analyst, and Transcriptionists.
District 5 will always strive to have a strong partnership with the community. Together, with our Community Policing values, we will work to reduce crime and improve quality of life issues. I look forward to meeting each of you who reside in the Glades as well as the many visitors who come to the
Tri-city area. As the Commanding Officer, please feel free to contact me at 561-996-1678.
